I'm doing a "project" called Incidental Pictures that I will only be posting on my tumblr. It consists of photographs I take with my phone. All too frequently, I do not have a real camera on me but I can't seem to let the moment go by. It's more a diary than anything else. You can check it out here.

On Sunday, I shot the tech rehearsal for Dead Letters. It is to be put on at Loew's Jersey Theatre. It is a huge old theatre in Jersey City. It is clear that it was once an extravagant, beautiful theatre that has fallen into unfortunate disrepair. I had never walked through an empty theatre of such size. It was a very humbling experience. You can't help but feel very small. It was like sitting in a corpse.
Everything is ornately detailed and gilded like a temple dedicated to the gods of theater. It reminded me of when Margo speaks of theater in All About Eve and she says, "All the religions in the world rolled into one, and we're gods and goddesses." It is horribly sad to think of it in its dilapidated state. That world of Margo Channing is gone and this is what is left. With paint peeling off the walls, holes in the flooring and staples holding the curtain together, this theater is holding on with everything it has. I don't know if it would be better to restore the place or let her go with dignity.

My family went on a boat ride along a beautiful river that I never knew existed! There were no houses on it, the water was clear - it was really lovely. It was very shallow most of it and the part we rode in was between two dams. The light was SO beautiful and I only had my phone - that is not to day I would have preferred my camera over my phone for, as I have stated, I prefer the wide angle to a fault and my phone can do that for me. I cannot get over the light - It is days and places like these that make me want to stay for a bit longer. When the light hits New York City, it does not bring it to life as it does the trees and the river.

These are some photos I took while my mother was mowing the lawn. The light was so beautiful. I took these with my phone for I couldn't find my camera but more importantly I wanted a wider angle and my phone's camera has more megapixels than my DSLR. The light was so beautiful I could not resist....

So, we went to Boston for Father's Day. We went to what Rita calls 'fens.' I don't know if that's a Boston thing or if that's what it's actually called but there are a bunch of plots that people rent out and plant gardens. I kept taking picture of roses - a lot my roll was just roses. Then, I went down a path through the tall grass and came upon some illicit affairs but that's another story.
But yeah, I just took some randoms from the day in Boston  - a town that I have never been a big fan of.

Yesterday, I went on a bike ride with my parents. We rode on the rail trail - (rail trail is a name given to the path that the trains used to follow, now used for biking and walking and horseback riding.) This one goes from Nashua NH to Ayer Massachusetts.
I didn't bring a camera because I didn't want to bring my heavy DSLR or deal with manual focus - but I had my phone. These are just random little things I saw and wanted to get - they are untouched by photoshop, not out for lack of necessity or on principle but because I am too lazy and too tired.

Today my mom and I went to Pickity Place. It's a little restraint in the middle of nowhere where they serve four course meals with fresh veggies and herbs from their very own gardens. The house was built ing 1786 and it feels it. It's quite amazing that it is not only standing but in working condition. They have a Little Red Riding Hood theme and it is funny because one could believably imagine that to be Granny's house.
Even in the pouring rain, it was adorable and magical - so magical that I must take Courtney and Ali there one day. I seem to have given new meaning to the word 'magical' and was overusing it the whole time, but, especially in the rain, the woods out there were so magical - beautiful and peaceful to the point of not seeming real, as though it needed some supernatural push to become what it is. The greens were glowing and the rain just sat on top of everything making is shine in the light. The pictures do not do it justice at all - I was so cold and wet but there is something wonderfully romantic about being cold and wet in woods, something natural and real about.
All it needed was some Philip Glass  or Dario Marianelli and it would have been perfect.
    AND I LOVE THAT SHEEP!

and then there's the digital one.....

My mom took me, Rita and Ava up to Odiorne point. We just kind of walked around - went around me and Ava. The weather was beautiful and sunny in Manchester and then when we got up there it was rainy and grey and cold and perfect! I love the beach on days like this. There is no real photo developing place around here and this scans are shit - it's really upsetting because it is only like $2 less than some high quality development/scanning I could get back home. I really wanted more for these...I just need a better digital camera and, if I am going shoot film, it shouldn't be 35mm.

These are some random photos I took after being home for a day. I haven't been here in a while so it's new for me again - I walked out of the movies yesterday and I could hear the bugs and frogs and trees rustling and it was so strange, never mind trying to sleep in the ringing silence interrupted only by a whippoorwill.
They are not really good but I was just having fun outside before it gets too hot.
