     So, Karima came to visit me over the weekend - we didn't do much. We shot this and saw Porgy and Bess - which was SO GOOD, I could go on forever about Porgy and Bess...maybe I will in a later post... I haven't seen or shot her in so long so it was fun. These are heavily photoshopped I was too tired to get the light I wanted so I just did it later - bad habit, but the photos look fine now.

    This film is just so beautiful, not only physically but the story as well. The use of color is amazing - each women's story has its own color scheme and with it, it's own feeling - three feeling are all altogether separate yet exactly the same. The use of light and dark - I mean, a blacken flower shop? Amazing. Not to mention the music or the performances. The motifs - the flowers and the eggs. I love flowers and if you read my blog, you know I love eggs.
This film, in my humble opinion, is a timeless masterpiece. In the words of Seth Rudetsky, I'm obsessed.

     These are also from the movie stills project. This is girl is young and naive and she came to the city. She is trying to be a New Yorker and, seeing as she is not a New Yorker, likes to hang out in Times Square. This would her first time in Times Square is she is completely overwhelmed and excited by the crowd and the lights and the theatres. Anina and I decided that she was an actress who comes to the city with big dreams - changing her name from Susan to Holly. Her youth and ignorance of 'the real world' will soon be a problem but in this scene she is just happy to be in Times Square.
